Newegg Takes Same-Day Delivery Into Its Own Hands

It is most likely that Newegg has got the motivation from Amazon, Google Shopping express and many other big brands who have already pioneered the same day delivery service much before. Henceforth Newegg also is expected to come up with the service in a wider field. As the company has its’ sights on other prime cities other than Los Angeles, it appears soon they will also start the same service in cities like Indianapolis, Memphis and Edison and New Jersey etc.

Amazon progresses one step further by opening another warehouse in California!

Recent news reveals, Amazon.com Inc. the top ranking online marketplace is going to open a new warehouse in Redlands. It is situated in San Bernadino County east of Los Angeles. This newly launched fulfillment center will be acquiring the fifth position in the line in the state of California.

Amazon is taking this initiative namely to fulfill the terms as per September 2011 deal with state officials.  According to this agreement, larger retailers will remain responsible to collect sales taxes from residents. And to make it come true, Amazon is gearing up to build more Fulfillment centers in the state.

Amazon opened its first warehouse in California two years back. At the same time, it opened other facilities also in the cities of San Bernardino, close to Moreno Valley, and two more in Patterson and Tracy, near the San Francisco Bay Area. An amazing data discloses, considering all these centers, the e-retailer currently operates in a 5-million square feet area which covers its entire warehouse space in the state.

Although Amazon has not yet declared exactly when the warehouse would be opened, they have already highlighted the fact that the Redlands warehouse will have a wide floor area over 700,000 square feet. They are also planning the operations of this center in a structured way where the workers will pick, pack and ship large items like big-screen televisions or kayaks etc on behalf of the customers. It is also made clear that Clarion Partners will own the Redlands building and Trammel Crow Co. will be in charge of managing entire construction work.

While discussing this, Mike Roth, Amazon’s vice president of North America operations said, that the company is specially focusing to enhance its growth very fast in this state as they have found great talents here and looking forward to serve their customers in this region.

 According to the e-retailer’s Q2 financials, Amazon is putting more stress on fulfillment, and as a result investing more in this area. Record shows it has spent $4.70 billion under this head within the first six months of 2014, which is 29.5% more from the previous year’s expenditure during this time period. Furthermore, with the increased amount of spending, Amazon is also expanding its same-day delivery services.

Amazon’s revenue has increased by 20% in the third quarter

Amazon.com – the top ranking online marketplace has announced a 20.4% revenue gain in the third quarter.  But in totality it has incurred losses due to its enhanced spending on multiple heads like fulfillment, marketing and many more.

Rakuten purchases U.S. rebate website Ebates for $1 billion

Recently Rakuten Inc., Japan’s E-Commerce giant has decided to overtake Ebates Inc., the rebates website of United States. The basic reason for taking this step is nothing but to establish its presence outside the country in the area of e-retail asset market.

The Tokyo Stock Exchange revealed that Rakuten has agreed to pay $1 billion in cash for buying Ebates, a San Francisco-based company. It has a special feature of offering cash rebates to customers whoever buy a product ranging from A to Z from their retail partners.

Chinese consumers can rejoice over a dynamic decision taken by Best Buy Co.Inc., very recently. This U.S. Consumer electronics chain’s subsidiary for China has entered into online retailing. It is well known as Jiangsu Five Star Appliance Co.

Five Star, has already launched its own e-commerce site, 5star.cn which can be compared with Alibaba’s Tmall and Amazon.cn. Furthermore, to provide additional support in this new selling strategy, they have taken a decision to sell their products by opening various web stores on different Chinese Online Marketplaces.

Interestingly Five Star is expanding its network through Jiangsu Broadcasting Television Network Corporation Ltd., also. By tying up with this renowned cable T.V. provider, shortly they will also start offering multiple products through various TV programs including a mobile app.

Currently, Five Star, is considered as the third-largest consumer electronics retailer in China. The company was launched in 1998, which now operates in more than 200 stores in China. It is also to be noted that the company has a huge staff strength which is nothing less than 23,000. It also has a tremendous annual sales record which is more than 20 billion yuan or $3.23 billion.

A company like this is planning to gear up for more expansion by entering into a partnership with various shops in small cities to beat its two other biggest competitors Suning Commerce Group Co and Gome Electrical Appliances Holding Ltd. Although 5star.cn mainly deals with electronics products like mobile phones etc, currently they are planning to spread their area by including more categories, which may also offer consumer items like cosmetics products. The site already works with SF Express.com Co. Ltd., a reputed Chinese delivery company and offers free shipping for orders above 99 yuan or $16.
